I designed this Asian-style dining set for Julietta Kenny. It features four matching cherry chairs (adaptations of my 'world's most comfortable chair") and a glass-top table. The top of the table solid glass, 3/4-inches thick. allowing a view into the center of the “tusks.”
The material is solid cherry stained a dark-red mahogany. (I hated to stain them but it fit the decor.)
The designs of the chair backs and the legs of the table are reflect elephant tusks with similar curves, in honor of their native form. These are accented with hammered copper bands.
The Asian styling of the chairs comes from bringing the stretchers up near the seat and adding a gentle curve to the backs. This construction is expensive, but beautiful and comfortable.
