I designed everything in this custom quilting studio specifically for sewing and creating quilts. The cabinets were made from fallen trees on the owner’s property. I chose lumber that showed a live edge and worked these into the designs. I really enjoyed the look of local live edge maple, even though managing the raw lumber added complexity to the process.
The countertops provided large surfaces for cutting, laying out and sewing fabrics. Drawers and shelves provided storage both for large pieces of fabric and quilt squares. Designing and building the fold-down ironing table was an interesting process. One highlight of the design was a movable cutting table with an adjustable top.
